Food Truck Market

Rethinking Food Access

Meet our “Fresh On The Scene Mobile Food Truck and Market.” We like to call it the “FOTS.” It’s designed to bring fresh ingredients to food deserts and to teach members of the community how to prepare nutritious meals.

This fully stocked mobile farmers market is capable of carrying two hundred pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, plus a variety of perishable and nonperishable staples. It will also have a mobile kitchen for healthy cooking classes and demonstrations.

Our dope, crazy-cool, customized ride will anchor a series of community engagement farmers market events with TVs, Bluetooth speakers, video game systems, wifi, music, and two patios.

This food truck is currently in development, and we are pursuing funding to get it off the drawing board and on the road. If you would like to be a part of the campaign reach out for more information.

Many Americans can have groceries delivered to their door at the swipe of an app. But for others, access to fresh and healthy food is not as simple. In low-income communities, convenience stores offer few healthy food choices. Healthier options available at grocery stores or farmers markets aren’t easy to access.

Many Atlanta neighborhoods lack access to quality food at affordable prices. Some of our communities suffer the ill effects of food insecurity and generational poverty, both of which disproportionately affect minority and low-income families. These problems create dire long-term consequences for residents and health systems.

Increased rates of obesity, diabetes, and chronic illness correlate with lack of healthy food access. Food security is not simply a health issue. It is a community development and equity issue. For this reason, access to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food is a key component of a healthy, sustainable community.
